About Julia

Home Grown

Julia was born, raised and educated in Sparks. She and her husband James choose to make their home near Victorian Square and enjoy working on their 1950s home. Julia owns a small business located on Victorian Square in the heart of Ward 1.

Dedicated

Julia has spent much of her professional life working to improve the lives of young people. She started at Partners In Education helping bring the community into the school district to improve education. Next she served as Executive Director of the Gang Alternatives Partnership (GAP) where she worked to reduce the number of teens who make the choice to participate in gang activity. In her free time Julia has been a mentor, lead a Girl Scout troop and been a volunteer for Sparks Pop Warner.

Experienced

Since 2000 Julia's business Strategic Management Services (SMS) has been providing services to nonprofit organizations. She has worked to strengthen over 50 nonprofit organizations including those working in the arts, human services, the environment and economic development. Julia is the founder of the Human Services Network - a coalition of human services providers who work together on some of the most challenging issues facing our community. Her company also provides ongoing management for WIN - a 600-member business networking association.

Involved
Julia has been at the table with her sleeves rolled up working to solve some of the biggest challenges facing our community. She is an active member of the Sparks Master Plan Steering Committee, the RTC Regional Transportation 2040 Plan Steering Committee and the Washoe County Senior Advisory Board. She is also a member of the Sparks Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Reno-Sparks Alumni Association and the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada.

Election Day - Tuesday, Nov. 4 - Polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Celebration - Tuesday, Nov. 4, 6:30 - 9 p.m. at the Great Basin Brewery
