| Just Over Three Weeks to Go - Now Is the Time to Help |
| |
|
Yesterday's walk ended up being a winter adventure. Thanks to Mom, James and Irene for giving it a go. Check out the entertaining photos here. Early voting starts on Oct. 18 and Election Day is just over three weeks away. If you've been meaning to get around to helping out with the campaign, now is definitely the time and I can definitely use the help. Here's a list of the last chances to help out the campaign as we push through to November 4.

| 30,000+ Steps Last Week, Prediction for Next Week - Zero |

You could say t hat the campaign has taken a bit of a twist. I'd like to be able to share a really cool story but the truth is I stepped off a curb funny while campaigning at the Sparks Chamber Golf Tournament. There's a lot I can do from the couch but this means I'm going to need your help now more than ever to make up for lost walking door to door time. Below are all of the dates for which I need walk volunteers through the beginning of early voting. The next eleven weeks are the heart of the campaign and the critical time to be talking to voters. Can you help me? Pick a day or two and sign up to walk. You know what to do. Please email Sara at s.a.moffat@gmail.com or call her at (702) 353-5280. Thank you to all of you who have signed up and helped out to date. |

| A Few Quick Updates |
| |
The campaign is in full gear now. Just a few quick updates for you...
First, I need your help. The only way to win this election is to get the word out to voters in Sparks. I am walking door to door and talking to voters most evenings and Saturdays. To make sure I don't burn people out (mom and James) I need to recruit a bunch of volunteers willing to walk with me one or two times per month. If you are available to walk with me in August, please email my field coordinator Sara. Most dates in August are still available. Just for fun, I bought a pedometer. Last night my volunteer Brian and I each made 6400 steps and burned 213 calories. Thanks Brian, Kathy, Deborah, James and mom for walking with me in July.
We also need to get more yard signs out to raise name recognition throughout the city. If you, or someone you know in Sparks, would be willing to host a yard sign, please email me. My dad will personally deliver a sign to your yard.
Second, the interviews and survey processes are wrapping up and I am pleased to announce that I have been endorsed by a wide variety of community groups as follows:
- Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc.
- Builders Association of Northern Nevada
- Nevada Association of Industrial and Office Properties
- Nevada Chapter Associated General Contractors
- Northern Nevada Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO
- Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3
- Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte
- Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors
- Reno Sparks Chamber of Commerce
- Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters (Nevada Carpenters Union)
- Sparks Firefighters Local 1265
- Sparks Police Protective Association
Finally, I just have to share the results of our 44 Fabulous Females fundraiser. Using the power of grass roots, we raised $4,370 to get out the word to voters. A big thank you to the host committee, everyone who attended and to everyone who contributed.
Thank you for your ongoing support. We're under 100 days until the general election. I hope to see you out on the campaign trail soon. Feel free to respond to this email if you have questions or ideas. It's always good to hear from you.

| Boats, Bikes and the Fourth of July |
| |
|
Team SS Ratti has been hard at work on our entry in the Star Spangled Sparks Milk Boat Regatta race at 9 a.m. on the 4th of July at the Sparks Marina. Our bike-powered boat should definitely get some attention. Check out the photos from our first test run here. We'll be very busy on the 4th of July getting the word out to approximately 13,000 people who visit the Sparks Marina for the holiday. Join us for the fun walk/run at 8 a.m. It's just one lap around the Marina and we're putting together a big team to show our Team Ratti spirit. Register on the day of the event for just $10 (benefitting Sparks Parks and Recreation) and meet us at the starting line no later than 7:45 a.m. to get your t-shirt. Then, visit us until 3 p.m. at our booth or find us on Victorian Square for fireworks that evening. Need more details? Call me on my cell phone at 250-0169. |

| The Race is On! |
| |
The campaign begins now! One other person filed to run for Sparks City Council Ward 1. With only two of us in the race we skip the primary and move straight to the General Election on November 4. The first phase is to build name recogntion. There are several fun ways for you to get involved.
Runners (and walkers!) for Ratti - We'd like to support the community and raise awareness about the campaign by recruiting large groups of people to participate in community fun runs and walks wearing the campaign t-shirt. Do you have friends who run? Get them to wear the t-shirt! We're targeting the following events: |

| Kick-Off Party Big Success |
| |
|
The Campaign Kick-Off Party was a big success. We held it in the heart of downtown Sparks at the Great Basin Brewery in conjunction with their 14th anniversary. The turn out was fantastic and we started the campaign off with a bang. Live music was provided by James Cavanaugh and the Moonlight Hoodoo Review. We collected almost 100 lbs. of food for local hunger relief agencies. To view photos visit the photo gallery, to see a video of the event visit YouTube. Thank you to everyone for the enormous support I've received so far. I look forward to working with you on behalf of Sparks now and in the future. |
